Eulerfinance vaults return underlying assets when liquidity and account constraints permit withdrawals.

Eulerfinance vaults in Euler V2 issue ERC-4626 shares, while withdrawals depend on available assets and contract limits. An Euler Vault Kit (EVK) lending vault can count outstanding loans among its assets even when borrowers hold much of its liquidity. Collateral commitments can also restrict an account's exit. EulerEarn adds strategy-level liquidity and a configured withdrawal queue. Understanding an exit amount requires distinguishing the shares that an account owns, their asset conversion, and the amount that its selected vault can actually return.

The short version: A share-to-asset preview calculates a conversion, while current liquidity and account checks determine whether the withdrawal can execute.

Why Can a Vault Balance Exceed Its Available Liquidity?

A lending vault includes borrower debt in its assets, so share valuations can exceed immediately available cash.

Cash and Outstanding Loans

Each EVK vault handles one underlying ERC-20 asset. Borrowing moves tokens out of the vault and records debt against the borrowing account. Repayment with underlying tokens returns cash and reduces debt. Deposits also add liquidity, while withdrawals consume it. The vault's total asset accounting therefore includes claims on borrowers alongside its available cash.

Interest and Share Conversion

Borrower interest contributes to the asset value that suppliers' shares represent, after configured fees. Interest accrual increases borrower liabilities without immediately returning tokens to the vault. A rising share conversion can therefore coexist with limited withdrawal liquidity. A cash shortage can reflect outstanding borrowing, while a loss reduces the assets backing shares.

Liquidity belongs to the selected vault. Another vault holding the same token does not automatically supply cash for its withdrawals.

Shares, Asset Amounts, and Receiving Accounts

An EVK withdrawal consumes shares from their owner and sends underlying tokens to the receiver specified by the call. Those addresses can differ. An Ethereum Vault Connector (EVC) sub-account can hold vault shares through EVC-aware logic, while ordinary underlying tokens need a receiver that can control them. A normal wallet signature generally cannot recover ordinary tokens sent directly to a derived sub-account without its own signing key. A reviewed EVC-aware recovery flow for that exact token and integration is a separate exception.

Why Can maxWithdraw Return Zero Despite Available Cash?

The EVK implementation returns zero from maxWithdraw and maxRedeem when the share-owning account has any enabled controller.

A Conservative Account Query

The withdrawal-limit query cannot determine every enabled controller's collateral rules. Its zero result conservatively accounts for restrictions that the query cannot resolve. A zero response in this state does not itself establish zero cash or insufficient collateral. Integrations that support borrowing accounts need logic for the particular controllers that they support.

Collateral and Contract Controls

A liability controller can prevent collateral removal that would leave its borrowing account outside required limits. The account's accepted collateral, debt, oracle route, and loan-to-value settings determine those requirements. Optional hooks can independently reject selected vault operations. Share spending authority also matters when another address acts for the owner.

Borrow LTV governs account health checks, while liquidation LTV determines eligibility for liquidation. A position's liquidation threshold therefore does not describe its immediately withdrawable collateral. Removing collateral must satisfy the applicable account checks, even before the position reaches liquidation eligibility.

Preview Amounts and Execution Boundaries

A share-to-asset preview calculates a conversion without establishing that the corresponding withdrawal can execute. At the contract level, previewWithdraw reports the shares that an asset-denominated withdrawal would consume. previewRedeem reports the assets corresponding to a specified share amount. These calculations answer different unit questions from the maximum-withdrawal queries.

Current cash, operation settings, share authority, and controller checks still constrain execution. A preview does not reserve liquidity, and another transaction can change the vault before execution. EVC simulation can inspect a fuller transaction, including the required final checks.

Withdrawal Choices Within the Vault Operation Set

An asset-denominated exit uses withdraw , while a share-denominated exit uses redeem . Both require sufficient cash, share authority, and a valid resulting account state. Preparing and previewing either call leaves the position unchanged. The amount and receiver remain inputs to review before authorizing execution; a signature alone does not establish a completed withdrawal.

EVK includes separate calls for exchanging shares, transferring ownership, and changing debt. Configured hooks can add restrictions to individual operations.

Operation Amount Unit Balance Change Execution Constraint
deposit Underlying assets Tokens enter; receiver gains shares Supply cap and token spending authority
withdraw Underlying assets Owner loses shares; receiver gains tokens Cash, shares, authority, and account checks
redeem Vault shares Owner loses shares; receiver gains tokens Cash, shares, authority, and account checks
transfer Vault shares Share ownership moves between accounts Share balance and account checks
borrow Underlying assets Account gains debt; receiver gains tokens Cash, borrow cap, and account health
repay Underlying assets Tokens enter; selected account's debt falls Outstanding debt and token spending authority
repayWithShares Underlying assets Shares burn; selected account's debt falls Shares and debt in the same vault; account checks

A completed withdrawal or redemption exchanges the owner's shares for underlying tokens at the specified receiver. The token receipt distinguishes a completed exit from a share transfer, which leaves the recipient holding the vault claim.

Does EulerEarn Add Another Liquidity Constraint?

EulerEarn withdrawals also depend on assets that its configured strategies can return through the vault's withdrawal queue. Its single ERC-4626 share position sits above those allocations. A strategy can have high utilization, enforce its own withdrawal limit, or temporarily fail to return assets. The Earn vault's accounting value can consequently exceed the amount that its queue can recover immediately.

Curators and allocators manage strategies, caps, queues, and reallocations within their configured permissions. Those choices affect the liquidity that reaches the withdrawal interface. One deposit position therefore carries dependencies on the underlying strategies and their individual exit conditions.

Atomic Batches and Final Account Checks

An EVC batch succeeds only when its calls and required final checks succeed; otherwise, the batch reverts.

The EVC can combine compatible repayment and collateral-withdrawal actions in one transaction. Deferral covers only constraints represented by the checks that vaults request. It does not manufacture cash or protect a vault that omits a necessary check. Simulation helps inspect combined operations, although called contracts can recognize simulation and behave differently during execution. The EVC's batchSimulation provides that inspection before an integration submits the actual batch.

Things people ask

Can a Smaller Withdrawal Succeed When the Full Amount Is Unavailable?

A smaller withdrawal may succeed when it fits current liquidity and every applicable account and contract constraint. EulerEarn also depends on liquidity that its withdrawal queue can recover from strategies. Reducing the amount does not bypass an operation restriction or a controller's collateral requirements.

Does a High Supply APY Indicate Readily Withdrawable Cash?

Supply APY expresses an annualized return under current or recent conditions, rather than the amount available for withdrawal. Borrowing demand can raise utilization and rates while reducing spare cash in utilization-responsive markets. Time-based interest-rate models follow different rules, so a rate alone cannot identify the vault's liquidity state.

Can EVK Shares Repay Debt Without a Cash Withdrawal?

EVK's repayWithShares operation can burn shares and reduce debt in the same vault without requiring cash in that vault. Its amount uses underlying-asset units, even though settlement consumes shares. Final account checks apply to the account providing the shares, which can differ from the account whose debt falls. If the account providing the shares is unhealthy, it must regain health by those checks or the transaction reverts.

How Can an EulerEarn Shortfall Affect the Displayed Share Value?

An EulerEarn shortfall can reduce represented assets or withdrawable funds before its displayed share conversion clearly reflects the gap. Recognized gaps can remain within reported totalAssets through lostAssets accounting. The lostAssets value, represented strategy assets, and maxWithdraw therefore describe different aspects of a withdrawal shortfall.

Do Finalized EVK Vaults Keep Withdrawal Conditions Fixed?

Finalization removes the active vault governor's ability to change EVault-governed parameters, while liquidity and market conditions continue changing. Separately governed oracle routers or connected vaults can retain their own authority. An upgradeable deployment can also retain factory-level implementation authority, so finalization alone does not freeze every dependency affecting an exit.

Does an EVK Interest Fee Apply to the Entire Withdrawal Balance?

An EVK interest fee allocates part of borrower interest to the configured fee receiver, rather than applying that rate to the entire withdrawal balance. The fee accrues in vault shares. Euler's April 2026 change set protocol fees to 0%, while vault-level interest fees remained configurable and future governance can restore protocol fees.

When Can an EVK vault's Full Withdrawal Become Available Again?

A full withdrawal becomes possible when the vault has enough cash and the account and contract rules permit it. Underlying-token repayments or new deposits can increase cash, while borrowing and other withdrawals can reduce it. Elapsed time alone does not establish that these conditions will hold.
